*From a visit in December 2013*

Hello, Holiday Work dinner.  Eureka!  Yes, a new restaurant.  Barely one year old this year, located at the UTC Mall in La Jolla, CA.  I recall walking by it a few times in the past few months, making a note that I need to get in there and try this place.

Last week, I was planning our holiday outing...initially we were going to Whisknladle in downtown La Jolla, but we wanted to include our PR team in our celebration.  So, our PR director suggested this location.

First, we went early (I was first to arrive at 3:30 or 4pm).  It was quiet, and apparently, HAPPY HOUR!! SCORE!!

So, beer I ordered and as soon as there were four of us, we ordered appetizers.  First up, Nacho Average Nachos, Truffle Fries and Osso Buco Riblets. Both dishes, I must say were delicious. OH, the Osso Boco, AMAZBALLS!! These were well cooked, tender riblets covered in fire cracker aioli sauce.

They were slightly spicy, but SO GOOD!!  The truffle fries were crispy and fantastically delicious.  I think it was the havarti cheese. The Nachos were tasty.  I typically avoid chicken, but it was a "must try", so I went for it.  Smoked chicken, avocado, tomatoes, black beans (I mean, I can go on...).  Crispy tortilla chips.  Oh yes...the next appetizer, lollipop corn dogs and another order of truffle fries.  The lollipop corn dogs, for sure.  2 orders and they were gone in 5 minutes.  True Story.

We finally ordered our entrees.  Three of them went with the beer braised duck, one had the hangar steak, one had the cowboy burger, one had the salmon and I had the fig marmalade burger.  My burger came with (for $1.25) Sweet Honey Cinnamon Potato Fries.  UHM....ALL sweet potato fries should come with drizzled honey.  It was the best addition.

We definitely had dessert, but they were so good, that I forgot to take a photo.  For you pudding lovers, we had the Golden Gate Butterscotch Pudding (with sea salt and rum...oh MY...how the flavor comes out from that).  We also ordered the Chocolate Expresso Souffle Coffee Cup Cake.  It was a favorite among our crowd.

Our service was excellent, we were seated in the back, where we can watch the game.  I was able to place a to go order for my other half (K's a great girlfriend!). Our waitress was awesome (I forgot to get her name!).

This was a great choice.  I have to come back again!!
